The autumn equinox holds potent energy for the practice of 108 sun salutations.
This is the time of year to go within and empty out space, composting our old ideas and using the energy they hold to make fertile soil for new creativity and matured visions. As we consciously link our awareness to the cycles of nature, our understanding of our own cycles begin to deepen.
Practicing 108 Sun Salutations is a deeply meditative practice that connects the body, the mind, and the universe. It is specifically beneficial when nature is undergoing a change such as the Autumn equinox. This practice helps us start once again to feel fresh, renewed and inspired.
Doing 108 sun salutations is an incredible experience in 'Svadyaha' (Self Study.) You may experience boredom, irritation, discomfort, frustration or even elation but your one task is to stay present and non attached. It develops a sense of self-acceptance . As we each acknowledge our limitations as well as our potentials. The repeated sequence enhances the potential to be in the moment. The practice will be led by @hannahfrancoflow with a deep emphasis on moving at your own pace and truly listening to yourself.
The Significance of 108
Mathematicians of Vedic culture viewed 108 as a number of the wholeness of existence, and the number 108 is also said to be connected with the Sun, Moon, and Earth. The recurrence of the number 108 is also prominent within the human body. Pranayama, the practice of meditative breath, also contains 108 cycles. We like to think that the number 108 represents an inner-connection between humans and the universe.
We will finish our practice with a luxurious sound bath led by @sophiamallie where you can truly drop in to a deep restful state with a new reconnection to your body and your practice.
