Pelvic Health 101: Understanding & Connecting to Your Pelvic Floor with Iris Platt

  • Arise Yoga Bed Stuy 380 Tompkins Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11216 United States (map)

The pelvic floor is a set of muscles that sit in the base of your pelvis.

Hidden from the world, this group of muscles support your organs, sexual, bladder, and bowel function. Everyone, including you, has one. Maybe you’ve heard of kegels, experienced constipation or was diagnosed with IBS-C/D, leak when you cough, have pain with intercourse or erections, had a painful hemorrhoid, gave birth or are pregnant, and/or struggle with chronic low back pain. Did you know that all of those symptoms can be because of pelvic floor dysfunction?

Join Iris Platt, a pelvic floor physical therapist who works with people across the lifespan, regardless of the parts they have, for an engaging and educational workshop. You'll learn about the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor in both the male and female sexes, common signs of dysfunction, and simple yet effective tools to support overall pelvic health.

Please note, this workshop should not be used to self-diagnose or as treatment. If you think you need pelvic floor physical therapy evaluation and intervention, you can contact Iris Platt to schedule a one-on-one 15-minute consult and/or appointment directly at info@irisplatt.com. All workshop attendees will receive 20% off their first session with Iris if they desire medical follow up.

Bring comfortable clothes and a pen. A handout will be provided but you are encouraged to take notes.
