In the intermediate Iyengar yoga class, we will refine our understanding of foundational poses, and progress to more challenging poses like inversions, pushing up into backbends, and arm balances.
Iyengar Yoga is based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar. It is firmly rooted in the eight limbs of yoga as described by Patanjali. The method emphasizes alignment, progressive sequencing, and (sometimes) longer holds; practicing this way acts as a meditative tool to go deeper and strengthen the mind-body connection. The use of props like belts, blankets, and blocks help with accessibility, safety, and further understanding.
This method promotes holistic well-being, enhances self-awareness, and is celebrated for its healing potential, offering not just physical benefits but also a profound journey of self-discovery. Iyengar Yoga is an important lineage and honors yoga’s roots through its connection to India and yoga philosophy.
