As we approach the end of the year, and the busyness of back-to-school and the holiday season settles in, we often feel torn between our social desires to stay active and entertained and our natural desires to retreat into a season of rest and nourishment.
In this workshop, we’ll explore the Ayurvedic qualities of vata season behind this inner conflict, which situate our human experience in the larger cycle of the Earth as it moves into a period of darkness—the groundwork from which our season of fertility and abundance, spring, will come. Through discussion and an extended yoga asana practice, incorporating gentle flow and restorative postures, you’ll come away with practical tools and an embodied memory of what it feels to flow with the energy of nature this time of year. We’ll also share Ayurvedic treats and recipes to take home and enjoy throughout the fall and winter. There will be time for reflection and journaling, so we encourage those participating to bring a journal or sketchbook should they wish to engage in this activity or jot down helpful notes for themselves.
